Sailing on the Disney Wonder
A four day cruise from San Diego, stopping at Catalina Island, Ensenada Mexica, followed by a day at sea before returning to San Diego
Day 1: Embarkation
We departed from San Diego and settled in before grabbing our first dinner at Animator’s Palate.
Animator’s Palate
Dinner each night was a three course meal. At Animator’s Palate, I ad the Smoked Salmon Tartar as an appetizer, followed by a Chicken & Walnut Salad. The main course was a Ginger-Teriyaki dusted Angus Beef Tenderloin. Dessert was a delicious sundae (plenty of these on the ship).
Day 2: Unexpected Sea Day
Due to weather, water between the Port of Los Angeles and Catalina Island were rough. As a result, the tender boats couldn’t get out to transport guests between the ship and the island, resulting in an unexpected sea day with some beautiful views of the island.
Lunch at Tiana’s Place
During the day time, Tiana’s Place was open for lunch, offering up several good choices. I went with something simple: Tomato-Glazed Meatloaf for the entrée and an Italian Style Ice Cream Sundae for dessert
Dinner at Tiana’s Place
The second night of the cruise was at Tiana’s Place, serving up another three course meal. Appetizers started off with Sautéed Gulf Ship & Grits followed by Mama Odie’s Creamy Tomato Soup. For the entrée, I went for the Roasted Creole Half Chicken and ended the night with some cake and beignets.
Day 3: Ensenada, Mexico
A quick stop at Mexico to checkout the market area before returning to the ship. There were many excursion options here, but opted for a relaxing day abourd the ship.
Sea Lions!
While docked, several Sea Lions were sunbathing by the rocks! It was quite entertaining to see them move around and “bark” at each other.
Pirate Night Dinner!
I missed to take note of the menu here, so no idea what I ordered but trust that the follow were all very delicious
Day 4: At Sea
With our last day, we were out at sea, sailing out into the Pacific Ocean before making our way back to San Diego.
Final Meal at Triton’s
Our last dinner for this cruise was at Triton’s. Going all out for this meal, I went with two appetizers: Iced Lobster & Jumbo Shrimp, and Gaston’s Escargot Gratinée - my first time having snail.
Farmhouse Salad
"Baby Spinach, Asparagus, Cherry Tomatoes, and Fingerling Potatoes served with a Goat Cheese Crostini and an Olive Vinaigrette” - this was actually a very tasty salad
For the Entree, I then went with Crispy Roasted Duck Breast and a Roasted Rack of Lamb
And the most important part - dessert…
Tahitian Vanilla Créme Brulée
“with Almond Biscotti” - this was probably my favorite dessert from the entire trip
Cassic Opera Gateau, the “Signature Dessert”
“layers of Joconde Sponge, soaked in Coffee Syrup, Chocolate Ganache and rich Buttercream” - and that’s gold fakes on top
